Before we begin, I would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for my life, and all the gifts which I've been given in it, including the ability to make this extension. Your name be glorified, my Savior, even in something as small as this. Amen.

"Now we find out who's number one."
Somehow appropriate that the 290th upload should be from a game with the word... err, or number, Zero/0, in it. Welcome to our final episode of Amateur Extension Theater 2000 for the week; I'm your high-flying, dog-fighting host, Alkahest, the Wolfen Knight.
.... um, not that kind of dog fighting. I meant the plane kind. Where planes fight. Like... dogs... wow, that term kind of has an offensive ring to it these days, doesn't it? Sigh. Movin' on...
Developed by Namco as part of their ACES Project, the Ace Combat Series is one of the few game franchises I know of to not only realistically portray jet fighters of all kinds, but even has backing from big names like Lockheed, Boeing, and so forth. Reminds me somewhat of AeroFighters Assault for the N64. Hehe, I loved that game.
Set in the world of Strangereal, Ace Combat Zero is takes place during a time when the great Belkan Nation, stricken with financial upheaval and rising debt, resorts to invading its defenseless neighbors -- several of whom were formerly Belkan territories that had been allowed to secede peacefully -- to regain its former prominence. You, the player, find yourself cast as Cipher, a mercenary flying ace whose actions will determine not only the outcome of the war, but determine what sort of future the world will have... if it's to have one at all.
'ZERO' is played in the eighteenth and final mission of the game. It prominently features a highly advanced jet fighter known as the ADFX-02 "Morgan", and believe me when I say, this baby is packing some serious weaponry. In fact, the armaments are so chaotic and potentially world ending, I'd go so far as to classify them as... wild arms!
Sorry, sorry. Composed by Keiki Kobayashi, this is a very enjoyable boss fight tune; I really loved the Mariachi/Flamenco/WhateverkindofLatin-styled approach Keiki used here. It made the entire fight feel like a good ol' fashioned showdown from a Spaghetti Western. Also, lyrics in the Dead-But-Popular Latin language? Bonus, even if I could barely make them out over the sounds of missiles, aerial explosions, and a countdown to global annihilation.
Funnily enough, this is apparently a remake of the final mission theme from Ace Combat 5, specifically 'The Unsung War'... which, er, is an actual song, -also- with Latin chanting in the background! Need to play that next, I guess. What're the words to this song, I hear you ask? According to wibblegames.net, they are as follows:
Cum historia mutat valde
Razgriz revalat ipsum:
Primum daemon scelestus est.
When history witnesses a great change
Razgriz reveals itself-
first, as a dark demon.
Cum potentia sua
Daemon fundet mortem in terram:
Deinde moritur.
As a demon,
it uses its power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies.
Cum somnus finit.
Razgriz surget iterum:
Magnus heros est.
However, after a period of slumber,
Razgriz returns-
This time, as a great hero.
And now you know. Knowin' is half the- AGH SUPERLASER BREAK BREAK BREAK phew dodged it. Uh, anyway, that's it for this week, gang; tune in next week as we count our way up -- or down -- to zero. Or rather, AET2k Upload #300! Wow, so close. I'm truly shocked. Can't wait to see what I've got in store, since I honestly have NO IDEA what I'm doing for it yet. Ain't it fun?
.... Buddy.
