  • The following are part of the physiologica (not anatomical) basal ganglia.. just so everybody is clear: pallidum, striatum, thalamus, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra. Anatomically thalamus is not part of it.

  • My mistake. I apologize for that. Thalamus is "not" part of basal ganglia. Thank you for your correction.

  • i didnt understand how inferiror portions of the lateral ventricles r shown below the 3rd ventricle..how the inferior horn can be visible in that section???? .....plz some1 do explain me :(

    Ps: is it possible that the thalamus isnt a part of the basal ganglia? I thought it would consist of ncl caudatus, putamen, crps pallidus, ncl subthalamicus and substancia nigra.
