i didnt understand how inferiror portions of the lateral ventricles r shown below the 3rd ventricle..how the inferior horn can be visible in that section???? .....plz some1 do explain me :(

Ps: is it possible that the thalamus isnt a part of the basal ganglia? I thought it would consist of ncl caudatus, putamen, crps pallidus, ncl subthalamicus and substancia nigra.

The following are part of the physiologica (not anatomical) basal ganglia.. just so everybody is clear: pallidum, striatum, thalamus, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra. Anatomically thalamus is not part of it.

My mistake. I apologize for that. Thalamus is "not" part of basal ganglia. Thank you for your correction.
