This tune was presented in the 1922 Broadway revue, "Make It Snappy", & was introduced onstage by legendary entertainer Eddie Cantor. There was a follow-up novelty song called "I've Got the 'Yes! We Have No Bananas Blues'".

For those who are interested. The desert banana that we commonly eat today is a variation of the Vietnamese Cavendish banana. Back when this song was recorded, the common desert banana was the Big Mike or Micheal Gros banana. The Big Mike was wiped out by the panama disease, a fungus that attacks the roots of the banana plant. This song is thought to reference the time when there were no banana's today.
btw, bananas are un-natural.
