I do like Gilmours version with the slide though. He still kept it similar to Syd, but much better.

Syd Barrett was kind of overrated and got more credit than he deserved while Richard Wright probably kept Pink Floyd from being a complete trip fest. Syd just made a sort of annoying slide in there and that's about it while Richard Wright had some beautiful piano works Mason had some awesome drum works. If anything, Syd probably held musicians like Nick Mason and Wright back until David came around because Syd wasn't a musician as much as he was a showman while David was the other way around.
