  • this is the first time ive bothered to research into anthropology and i find it extrememly fascinating, the facts of the world of human beings, this video was extremely interesting and thought provoking and educational, more please!

  • the professor mentioned the nation-state organization emerged during the mid-19th century, but said it is coming to an end. Is globalization the next stage of organization?

  • is it just me or does Keith Hart sound like shrek?

  • @mozfreak84 the problem is always that we cannot predict the future and those who have tried (i mean scientists) most times they failed. that is the big question. what will come after? how are things going to change? nation-state is a so well rooted form of organization globally but as the professor says it seems to not be able to tackle the new problems. it is something that remains to be seen. all we can do is try to explain the present and to do what we think is best for the future...

  • @mozfreak84 he actually said that the nation-state seems to be *reshaping* due to the global forces and problems. saying it is coming to 'an end' makes it sound to abrupt. and asking if 'globalization' is the next form of organization has no meaning because 'globalization' is not a form of organization. it is a very vague term in academia, it tries to explains certain perceived processes that take place in the world and means many different things.

  • Could it be that we are nearly headed back toward a sociocentric identifyication of personhood, and that we are on our way to hitting a breaking point where civilization awakens to the paradox of wants and needs, reverting back to nucleated networks made up of smaller interdependent groups of people?

  • @mozfreak84 It is one of those things that is hard to define. Check out "the anthropology of globalization" by Lewellen.

  • he is interesting, and knows a lot of great stuff but jesus christ spit the friggin words out uh uh uh uh uh uh - take a course in proper lecture technique.

  • I think he really means that nation-state might in the near term stop existing because they're just not adequate anymore. I subscribe to that view.

  • this guy knows his stuff, and presents it in an engaging manner
