The problem is that there is always a gap between martial arts theory and the real life situation. A mugger with a loaded gun is rare, but very dangerous, because of the fear and maybe the uncertainty about his gun knowledge. A more real life situation is the mugger with a knife, that would make more sense. I use the Shilelagh in my class as a very effective self defense tool, my problem is that it is such a nice piece of craftmanship that I think twice before hitting some creep with it. ;)

I found this to be the case with this article. There was just too much disrespect of a mugger with a gun. The article even says that all you have to do most times is just stand your ground and they will give up. Not in this day and age. Still it was fun to play around with. Also note that we were just doing this stuff after reading it so we were trying to figure out what the article was saying, very poorly i might add. it was very hard to figure out what was meant from the description,
