The following video demonstrates the figure eight knife fighting drill for a knife held in the reverse grip. In the video, I'm wielding a karambit, but any type of blade will function nicely. Grip the knife firmly, but not too tightly. Move in a fluid and graceful manner; the key to knife fighting is quickly and smoothly executing each technique, do not use an excessive amount of physical force. Train hard, and be safe, my friends.

  • karambit is indonesian traditional knife so its only matched with indonesian martial art "pencak silat"

  • @hadiyasa

The origin of the knife does not matter. A knife is a useful tool that can be used in many contexts, inside and outside of the culture it originated in. The only thing that matters is whether or not the person using the knife can effectively protect themselves.

  • what trainer are you using there? im about to buy a cold steel tiger and that would be a good trainer

I actually just built this knife based on designs that I had seen on google images. The knife's size and dimensions were based on what I thought would fee anatomically natural. I built this one out of some quarter inch plywood, but cardboard and tape could create a training blade that would work just as well, not to mention it would save quite a bit of time and money.

  • Nice video. Thanks for the info. You look strikingly similar to Ben Stiller btw.

Thanks for checking out the tutorial. Haha, people keep telling me that. Maybe he's a distant relative lol

  • nice work dowh !!

  • 0:18 - 0:29 The stuffed him in lockers.. He stuffed them in bodybags...

  • What wiould be better is if you just did the movements without stopping and showing text on the screen it is not good for learning. You shuld just have gotten to the point and just did it slow then fast and normal speed then slow up again. no text just do it.

  • good vid though. Still trying to get the combos from the conventional kerambit grip. I find you can slash from certain angles you can't with a regular knife.. might make a vid about my take on the karambit knife too and the combos I got the feel for

  • I see you got a fixed blade karambit. I have a folder since fixed blades are illegal for every day carry in cali. Cops can pass it for a tool since its technically legal. Yet the angle makes it devastating and capable of a lot more damage than a regular pocket knife.

The feel is different so i'm still experimenting with combos.
