After visiting the church at the Monastery of Camaldoli, we go a couple of kilometers up the mountain to the Holy Hermitage, the Eremo. We enter through a side entrance and see the monks' "cells" or living quarters, which look like large cottages, but most of the space is taken up by a wide hallway and wood storage surrounding the main room, with a bed, a desk, and in this case, a meditation chapel. Two monks, Franco and Bernardino, engage in a conversation, and then we see the same symbol of the two doves drinking from the chalice, which we saw over the fountain in front of the Monastery.
Thanks for these uploads, beautiful !
I wish you could go into a little more detail of the symbolism of the two doves drinking. Why two doves ? Indicating community ? And why doves ? Holy Ghost or peace or reference to Noah ? And particularly: what's with this 6 pointed star ? It is easy to imagine diverse parallels to Jesus referred to as the "Morning Star" (what the Romans called Lucifer, BTW) or the Star of David. But what do the monks say is the behind the choice of these specific symbols ?
