@Bryd3n yeah i guess,but hell a 15" 500 Watt sub is more bass than i'd ever need lol im good with a 250 Watt 10" :)

@simbalage22 well the Optimus X-100 does true surround sound from two stereo speakers, but it only works on certain FM stations and certain tracks or certain CDs. From two speakers out front, it certainly can make sounds behind you! The EMI 319 do the same job but they're really only good with their ancient QUAD II amplifiers. These need no subs, they do the whole thing with no sub, but only on stuff recorded to make those effects. Still 5.1 is good, especially on live music, it's as good!

btw I didnt mention I have 5 speakers and a sub.. 2 of which being the fishers in the rear :)

You can do it with a rca to headphone adapter jack. Connect it to your sound card. Also can do 5.1 if your stereo has the inputs or you have a few stereo's laying around. 1 for front, 1 for rear, and the other to give you sub and center which you would need 2 more sets of speakers for the rear, a sub and center, but can be done to achive nice homebrew 5.1 that is killer
-
@keplermission the front should be identical, rears should be identical, but it doesnt matter as long as your sub is large enough and have a frequency low enough to play the low explosions as you put it, and your center is designed to play the vocals and center stage, then it doesnt matter what you use for your front and rear.. The rears are mainly a accustic fill on 5.1 anyways hence why I have the crappy fishers in the rear and have a nice pair up front still better then 2.1

@simbalage22 okay so any speaker will work for 5.1? Taint so. Explosions need speed, that's why M&K launched their push pull sub! 2 x ten inch are faster than 1 x 15 inch. Pleated edge speakers are two slow for 5.1, has to be roll edge or foam edge and they all have to be the same speed. No all the speakers in the room could interfere with each other if they're not made to work together as a set. I guess it's just beyond brain surgery for some folks to get why EMI speakers were elliptical!

@keplermission btw.. i have a sub and center already, just using the fishers for the rear
-
no nothing is missing.. 3 rca's will carry 5.1.. 1st set front, 2nd set rear, 3rd set carry the center and sub.. have you ever looked or setup a 5.1? the sub and center are mono and usually combined on a pair of rca. This front and rear being stereo, Any speaker will work for 5.1 just depends if they are full range or not. Sub and center respectivly do matter however

@simbalage22 - er okay these are not 5.1 speakers! 3 RCAs to your PC? Look er, 5.1 is a matrix system so it needs 5 surround speakers and a sub (the .1 part). It's like this the A.V. receiver matrix steers the sound around the 5 speakers, so if you only have 3, somethings go missing! Besides 5.1 needs dome or horn tweeters to spread sound out wide! Cerwin Vega makes a good 5.1 system as do JBL. Cone tweeters are not for 5.1, leastwise without Fisher's acoustic lenses of the STV-893, okay?

I just trash picked a set.. gonna add them to my small setup. I am running a Aiwa and using the 5.1 input with 3 rca's to my pc.. So its a really incrediable 5.1.. I supposed you could do the same with 3 amps too.. But I have a kenwood paird to the sub woofer rca out on the aiwa and use a car sub for the bass. These speakers are clean vocals but dont like bass.. So with this Aiwa the stereo is throwing 100 watts each channel in vocal, and kicking most of the bass to my sub.. boxes are a beast
i just bought these same exact speakers, and i was wondering is it possible to hook them up to my computer for speakers? and if so how could i do that

@TopSecretProduces All you need to do is get a amp and an audio wire with a jack for an ipod. Hook that up to the audio ought on your computer and you are all set.
