Sandra Reemer - Mas Que nada

At the famous Amsterdam Dinner 2006 Sandra Reemer, together with Dolf de Vries Music Train, got the whole audience on their feet (including Dutch royalties) with her version of Mas que nada, written by the Brazilian Jorge Ben Jor. I don't understand the Portuguese, but I've listened to the Sergio Mendes & Brail 66 version, and I can tell the difference. This woman here sounds awful.

Better I should say they do it, but it sounds artificial...they don´t have what in Flamenco culture we call ´aire¨...Celia Cruz would say ´sabor´ ... The pianist actually plays a tumbao...but it seem they running and running...and you can´t taste the rythm. It´s a pitty as she sing with quite nice musicians...and other songs sound well...

In my opinion this band makes a mistake. Specially de singer.They don´t do what brasilian music, as well as SOn cubano requires...That kind of ´tumbao´ that creates the rythmical feeling...without it you kill the feeling.They sing in 2/2 in the way of classical music, so it doesn´t work. I play flamenco and frequestly happens the same thing when some people perfom our rythms in other places...

And the lack of money has made too many artists dwindle. I'd like to stick a needle in the eye of some fat rich boob whom values trash above art.
