Final approach in CP-861 as "Boliviano 711" into Sucre's fairly hazardous airport, situated at over 9,000ft and boxed in by mountains, ravines and a low cloud ceiling. Lots of fun--note the burst of power over the runway threshhold!

  • The only Boeing aircraft other than the 747 to have triple-slotted flaps.

  • @Psycho9263 B.737 Classics have triple-slotted flaps too.The 747SP, meanwhile, had double.

  • Great video, best airplane ever. Wow, that is an amazing fact that this airplane spent it's entire working life with one airline.

I worked as a F/A for 4 years at American Trans Air(now defunct). Before they were retired I bid 727 trips consistently for over a year.

  • Thanks. It's as amazing as it is rare that the plane stayed with same airline from start to finish (and maintained the highest dispatch reliability in LAB's fleet right up until retirement!). The only other aircraft that have done so for almost as long are Iran Air's 727s acquired back in '74/'75.

You definitely made the right choice at ATA before they retired them. As of 2011 in fact, it will become even harder to catch a ride on one of these beauties.

  • Why did you cut the video early? I would of liked to have seen the taxi and the 180 degree turn!

  • Memory space. :-(
