His mother was not motherly and when he sucked on her her mother instincts didnt kick in, we hand reared him and did everything we can, dont say you should've tried better please because there was nothing else we could do, so sadly he was left with his mum to go in peace

  • Aww I'm so sorry it's so hard to lose a baby like that big hugs xx

  • Thankyou <3

  • im sorry he died, its verry sad when that happens. was there anything wrong with the mother that made her not care for them??

  • When she had him, he was the only one she licked took the placenta and sac off, but after the first still b orn was born, something came out and it smelt like poo, and she ate it. and we think it might of done something, other than that she wasnt producing milk so she had a hormonal jab to help it kick in, but he couldnt suckle on her in the night so he lacked milk then.

  • im crying again :(

  • sorry its very blurry, we miss him much. please comment :(

  • i raised a litter when my cat rejected them at 3 days old, we started off with 5, feeds every 2 hours..unfortunatly we lost 2 which was very upsetting, and we had countless trips to the vets. but the remaining 3 will be 1 year old next week :) so rewarding knowing our hard work paid off even if we didnt manage to save all 5. i didnt relaise how much was involved in lookin after them! feeds every 2 hours, making them go to the toilet, keep them warm and clean. hard work but well worth it!

  • God bless you. that is so sad. i am sure it felt your love and it gave the little one comfort.

  • Hello Meggy,

If your cat has another litter, and begins to show signs of not caring for them, or not being able to feed them (because her milk hasn't come in), it would be a good idea to get some kitten formula as soon as you can.. Even having some on hand when your cat is nearly due to give birth would be good (just in case). Im so sorry the babies didn't make it. When I was younger I tried to raise a tiny newborn kitten I found at a garbage tip. He died after a short while too.

    xx
