Yellowknife hosted the first spring GAC-MAC conference north of 60°. The conference coincided with the beginning of the International Polar Year(IPY) and and the International Year of Planet Earth. As part of the well attended special session on Geoscience Skills Development for Canadian Communities included a short field trip to the Giant Mine.
Hey! Is that the same mine at 4:05 where you go to get blown up if you are just trying to feed your family? That does sound like a great place to live!

Lived there from '92-'95. Man, I hated that fucking place. Couldn't wait to wipe it off my shoes.
Everyone's on Prozac, or alcohol, or both.

I've always been impressed by downtown Yellowknife. I mean for a city located so far north its amazing that it actually has a skyline of tall modern buildings.
