The song is Stranger In Moscow. The band who's covering it is Transformer di Roboter from Berlin, Deutscheland. The song is awesome. Admittedly my lame mashed together video isn't so awesome. Still, this song needs to be accessible here on YouTube. TdR: if you are reading this, please put up your own video of this song. If you do, I will take this one down.

Incidentally: the Mac had 8 bit sound in the beginning.

  • This is awesome! I like this a lot better than the original song. Where did you get it?

  • It's available on Transformer di Roboter's website. Just google it. I can't link it in this comment for some reason.

There's also a video floating around. Just not here. That's why I cobbled this together.

  • I just mashed this together quickly to put the song up. Certainly this is better than those lame videos where you have a song over a single picture or title. TdR seem to have neglected to put their own video for this song on YouTube, unfortunately. I'm working on an AMV for this song with scenes from Serial Experiments: Lain. When that goes up, this is coming down.

  • I like that Macintosh alert sound for some reason. Know where I can get it? It's after "How does it feel" and that short 8-bit music part.

  • im surprised the cunts at apple haven't sued them yet for copyright.

  • Apple brain...

  • it's been sampled down in pitch, Normal samplers work by changing the sample rate of the Sounds. which changes the length. so when it's pitched down, it will sound a tiny bit different. hope that helped.

  • lol 0:20

  • Does anyone know which mac that startup chime was sampled from? Doesnt seem to sound like a new mac, neither does it sound like that chiffy sound on the Quadra. :s

or has it just been messed around a little bit?

    thanks in advance :) x

  • There's a very handy program called MacTracker, which not only lists meticulously detailed the specs of all Macs, but also contains all startup sounds. It's available both for Mac and Win.

  • Thats the original '84 era mac startup I think...

  • Cool, actually it was an alert sound, know the short beep? I wonder if I ever thought of that. I have the proper equipment to record the sound.

  • you can sample the start up sound from your mac...

there is a new video up i just discovered, its called stranger in moscow
