I went to high school with Raul Melo in Miami... had a feeling he would someday be famous for his voice.. it was wonderful even back then.

Yes it's a great baritone and very popular in Germany. It's really a great honour to see him on stage.

You betcha! He's doing Don Jose here this weekend. He's doing B cast because, as I understand it, he was bored and available and they needed another Don Jose. He does a really creepy, unhinged Don Jose, and the creepier he gets, the sweeter his tone gets.
Who's the baritone? He sounds like a young Thomas Hampson.

Wonderful duet and I hope that now
that Raul Melo who is on the Met Opera
roster will be more then just a standby
singer.

beautiful duet and beautiful voices too.bravo Melo!
From what opera house is the broadcast you
are making mention of?
Do not know much about the baritone except
that he sings at the NYC Opera.

It is the tenor that sings at the NYC opera, the baritone sings mainly in the European houses.
