I LOVE the back-and-forth echoing John Mayer does on guitar with so many singers he duets with. His echoing of Alicia Keys' vocals in this clip start at 4:44. It's almost tongue-in-cheek, because he can obviously play circles around any line someone sings, but he usually does it so that it enhances the atmosphere of the music. Just... awesome. =)

@angelichapa yeah, i love that part too, it really shows the musician's ear he has to be able to echo a vocal line. People often forget that, just like any instrument, vocals hit specific notes too, so you could go through her vocals there and say okay she going from g to a to c, and then go find those notes on the guitar. Very impressive to be able to do that though, not many guitarists have that ability.

i love all of John Mayers covers. every night i come on youtube and find another one. i think John Mayer is so talented in so many ways. i'm realy liking his stuff with the John Mayer Trio. does any one know if they're still together???

@Mr11950 Yeah, the trio is still together, Pino&Steve Jordan both played on some of the battle studies tracks, and Steve Jordan(the trios drummer) produced the record. As for the trio themselves, they are supposed to be touring and releasing another album this May. And if you are looking for new stuff, he just played about 6 new songs at a surprise show at Hotel Cafe in LA, look up Born and Raised, Something Like Olivia, A Break in the Clouds, Portable Heart, Whiskey Whiskey, Age of Worry

@Mr11950 Check out 'A Face to Call Home'. Lyrically, one of the best new songs I've heard, he played it at his Berklee clinic in the spring.

@ak231510 thank u very much. i def want to see them when they come to town in may. i hear the tickets are pricey but i got a feeling it'll be well worth it. thanks for the tip on the new songs also. there isn't much i don't like from John. i must say my heart is with the more bluesy stuff he does. the John Mayer Trio is to me one of the best bands out there. thank u again. feel free to give me more suggestions for good music it's always appreciated.
