@Bibazavr actually not really, it's a 1.3 in a rotary, not a piston engine. the general rule of thumb is to multiply the rotary's displacement to by approx. 2 so the 1.3 is more like a 2.6 v6 in a piston engine, not all that impressive, but the engine did win It won International Engine of the Year and Best New Engine awards 2003 in the 2.5-3.0 category. more impressive is the lotus elise or even the honda s2000. sorry for the sermon, i'm at work.

the only thing rotary engine accomplishes is the cool sound it makes, but i guess for some people it's worth the extra gas it eats while it fails to produce any good torque or power for that matter, the rx8 is a real quick car.

@sonic8002 unique it's not impressive because it's a sports car that gets outperformed by mildly tuned rice rockets like civic si's and type s hell i was even beat by a maxima once. this "unique" engine also has the reliability of a yugo. a rwd 'sports car" should not be beaten in anyhting by a cheaper fwd econo box.

boy it is definatley not the fastest thing in the world, but it does sound great!
