  • Pho 79 has a jack fruit shake that's really good.

I was at the Hawaii market and they cut one open and cellophaned it. OMG... I stood there for 10 minutes sniffing the fruit it smelled so good.

  • Jackfruit isn't meant to be eaten alone :(

  • I grew up eating jackfruit. My grandma had a generous tree which would produce 2-3 of these beautiful monsters every 4 months or so. We used a big bolo knife to hack them open.

If you let jackfruit ripen on the tree, your whole garden will be inundated with its unique fragrance. But don't make the mistake of putting too much of the ripe flesh in your fridge without sealing it in a container. The fragrance is so strong it even gets into your frozen chunks of beef over in the freezer section!

  • @Dennyboy190: That would be durian fruit. Jackfruit is a different fruit, and is very fragrant. LOL. Actually, in a way, you are right. Jackfruit is SO very fragrant that it's cloying -- you actually can start hating the smell.
