Carlos Ramirez defeats his Redford Union foe. I put this up not because it's a good match or a finals match. On the contrary it could be one of the worst matches ever recorded. Regardless, both sides of the mat screamed and rooted harder then I recall ever seeing in the 6 years I competed.
Carlos wasn't very good, perhaps awful. He always came to practice, every day, for many years. Took a beating every match, which there weren't very many. I recall seeing him pinned in 10 seconds, several times. I consider this a testament to the sport of wrestling. Regardless of your athletic ability, your strength, your strategy or your smarts. Anyone, if you try hard enough, if you persevere, can have a taste of glory. To know what it feels like, for you and you alone, to be victorious. As Carlos use to always say, as he rooted on his teammates every match, V is for Victory! Your the man Carlos. Your the man.
