Pink - So What (Irish Cover)

(First off, MAJOR APOLOGIES TO THE IRISH PEOPLE FOR MY ACCENT - my only good source for an Irish accent has been Father Ted, and I haven't practiced (nor practised!) it. And I felt I kept slipping into Wiltshire or some accent that isn't found anywhere on the planet. Now, if only Tim Curry will apologize for his American accent on "The Shadow" :-).)

It's been a while since I did a style cover of a popular song - this time I'm forgoing the "lesson" and just getting down to final version.

I perused the charts and found Pink's "So What" - yes, I heard it for the first time yesterday (19 September 2008) - you can thank unemployment while at university for that. My first reaction to the opening lick was that it sounded Irish. Then I found out Pink's heritage has some Irish in it. One crazy idea and one day later I cranked out this thing.

I seem (with the Pink connection) to be getting a lot of new viewers and subsequently, more negative responses. Apparently because I put an Irish spin on this song, it makes me a bad person. Maybe it's the poor accent, maybe it's the fact I've changed "too much" of the original and "blasphemed" P!nk.

There are many other "So What" covers on this site much (very well performed, I might add :-) ) and yet they get almost all positive comments and high ratings. I'm not whining or complaining—I know my music will only appeal to a certain audience. These are just some things to think about for those people who actually have read this far!

I was in no way trying to degrade the song at all - I LIKE the original song. I picked it because it's one of the most creative sounding songs on the pop charts now.

I use pitch correction software (Melodyne), so I'd say instead of holding a note, "I can hold a note close to I'm supposed to hold and know why it should go there and how it fits into the structure of the song." But, thanks!
