Matisyahu & PS22 Chorus "ON NATURE"

The PS22 Chorus got a visit today from Matisyahu, the incredible reggae singer, who also turns out to be an equally incredible person! He was awesome with the kids -- laid back and spontaneous -- just our style!

Here the kids join in on his song, "On Nature" from his phenomenal album, Light. The kids learned their parts to this only at their last chorus practice, and they really impressed me on just how well they came through! After Messale told Matis he had really been listening a lot to this song, he got an invitation to join in on the verses and bridges (with the words he knew). He also really impresses here. Yeah, we know Messale could rap from his amazing work on "Empire State of Mind" but what a great singing voice he has too! When he sang this tonight at the 92nd Street Y (which was recorded, and hopefully will be available to see eventually), the crowd went nuts for him!

Thanks to Matis for being so cool and generous, really going out of his way to give the kids the spotlight. .And props to his acoustic guitar player, David, who also was so much fun to jam with!!
