How to replace an apple ipod hard drive. If you've tried all the prior steps to repair your ipod without success, the chances are that you will need to replace the hard drive. Ipod hard drives are the most labor intensive part of the ipod and can malfunction due to many factors. This tutorial will teach you you how to remove and replace the hard drive. This method will work for all hard drive based ipods, 1st to 6th generation. some internal mechanisms may vary due to the situation of the ribbon cables internally but they all basically look the same inside.

  • Soo, I did everything right until it was time to pull the ribbon out, I tried to be careful, but the wrong part of the ribbon seperated from the ipod not the hard drive, if anyone can help, I will show my appreciation and somehow make your day

  • hi um i just recently drop my ipod, it ended up openining complety in half so i just put it back to get together and not it just says low battery now it just say very low battery and wont turn on wht do i do? is all my memory still there, bc i preety much lost all my music on there bc i never synced them to itunes whenever i plugged it into it

  • @beanphoner To open mine, I use a screwdriver... It left a slight dent, (i am wayyy to rough with stuff like this!) but i got it open
