Pittsburgh has many bridges crossing over its three rivers, but the North Shore Connector -- a subway extension planned for completion in 2011 -- is the first to cross under, connecting downtown with the ballparks. Take a video walking tour of the work under construction.

  • @chacoal Citizens of Pittsburgh not only needs an effective metro train system to go through just about every neighborhood, they also need to write letters to local and state politicians who can advocate for something like this to happen. They also need to find the money to do such a project. I've heard it's been discussed before, but I don't think much was accomplished.

  • @dwarrren9 all the neiborhoods sq.hill oakland homewood larimar e. lib. shady side lawerence ville all these place and more require a more effective trans system.

  • @chacoal I agree. Pittsburgh is becoming a very difficult city to get around. It would be nice if they built a system that went through neighborhoods like Squirrel Hill and Oakland. Pittsburgh is turning into Zoo York, and as a result transportation is becoming more of a hassle. Of course they only care about the sporting events and the casino!

  • This bullshit helps ppl get 2 the stadium and casino. helping the rich get richer. how about a system that helps the ppl get aroung the city. provides more jobs helps get 2 jobs helps environment!

  • Very cool. Can't wait until it opens in Spring 2012

  • Cool. Even though this project will likely be of relatively limited use (except when there are major sporting events) at first, I think that this project will eventually enhance commerce between downtown Pittsburgh and the north shore.
