what sort of definition do you get from a lazerdisc was it 540p or higher nearly hd?

Extra features and CAV made it even more. My Poltergeist boxset is three discs including extras and it's less than two hours long.
I actually enjoyed Waterworld. It's kinda cheesy at times, but it is a fun one.
1941 is very underrated. I'd put it on my top 5 Spielberg films along with Raiders, Duel, Jurassic Park, and Jaws.
Slap Shot is hilarious!
The Phantasm boxset is pretty good even though the extras have been ported to DVD. One of my favorites actually.
