  • Can anyone identify the author of the following?

"Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her."

  • I think it was that guy from Galilee but these guys could care less what he thinks!

  • Sad but it does indeed appear that the opinion of the guy from Galilee gets conveniently ignored when it interferes with personal agendas, doesn't it?

  • Yes especially when the agenda involved Ca$h!!

  • Hows the restoration process with his x, and his kids?

  • there is not one!

  • Released an environment of grace?! Puke ...

  • @steve4000 Maybe she doesn't want him back?

  • All those jargons! My goodness. People of God should speak clearly....

  • @quemacha Sorry - I was responding to your comment about whether he is saved, which IS an issue of knowing his soul and judging over it. On the subject of whether he can lead, it is unfortunately an issue of debate actually knowing what the true 'biblical' qualifications are in the first place. It's clear to you that he shouldn't lead according to what you read in The Book - that's fair by your conscience (whilst I'm undecided).

  • @PilliDSL Let me put it this way; if Todd left his wife to enter into a homosexual "marriage," the Charismatics would judge that as gross immorality (or let's hope they would!). The issue is not knowing his soul, but knowing whether or not he meets biblical qualifications of leadership.

  • @quemacha How much evidence is sufficient to the point that you cannot deny someone is a Christian? Deception can be so powerful that someone can look saved when they're not and vice versa. In the end only God can judge and, if you claim to know, you claim to know the judgements of the Lord Himself (I believe this is possible, but it takes an incredibly responsible person for God to trust them with those judgements).

  • @steve4000 - God allows divorces, there's no scriptural evidence to suggest that healing needs to involve re-marriage to your original wife. I know it's debatable, but could 'healing' mean letting go of a decision you should have never made (marrying your first wife?) - if that can be forgiven and you can die to it, you are born again into the same right you once had to take a wife and remarry. Debatably.

  • @alittlegreen - do you long and wish with all your heart to see these men you criticise so much stand beside you one day in Heaven and priase God with you jointly? Even Jesus said of the pharisees that he wished they would soften their hearts so they could be healed.

  • @1abimele I think it was spoken by the same authority which teaches us to 'speak the truth with love'.

  • To Todd, Rick and Bill, it's so hard to judge these things but I think you're trying to help a guy out genuinely. Or at least that's how it looks to me. I'm sorry to see so many negative comments here, what a hard thing it is sometimes to 'speak the truth in love'.
