I wouldn't consider either Archie Griffin or Greg Pruitt busts. Griffin had a decent career with the Bengals despite never being the feature back he was with Ohio State, and Pruitt had an excellent career that featured three straight 1,000-yard seasons.
only thing bad about the 1972 NFL season was that the Cowboys lost to the Redskins in the playoffs, well that and the Oliers losing the silver in their uniforms..i think all NFL/AFL seasons are great esp from 1969-1974.
@khidak1 I have always suspected that 1972 was night of the living dead as far as the greatness of the NFL disappearing. Your comment about 1972 being a great year for kickers further refuels what I think of that horrible 1972 NFL season.
what a gut on Dempsey..........he coulduv rested his leg this day and made all 6 FG's by having the center direct snap the ball to his gut, where the ball surley woulduv bounced the distance over the crossbar...........
Rodgers was the Heisman trophy that year. But he wasn't drafted until #25 in the '73 draft, by the Chargers. Possibly NFL teams shied away from him because of his criminal record. He wound up playing in Canada.
Should bring the goalposts back to the front of the end zone!!
