I dont want to be mean, but... my Asus 1215N with 2GB RAM and the original HD, opens photos with Photoshop CS5.5 in 22seconds... i think the bottleneck is in the CPU and GPU..

@bnjmnwng If your Windows is OEM version (comes together with the computer), then I'm afraid you need to buy a new copy of Windows. If yours is a retail version, you can have a choice when you install Windows to the computer.

Any problems with this machine yet? I was kind of thinking of doing the same thing with the ram. Any weak spots? I have had only 1 laptop before and the first thing to break were the hinges.

@zunehdrocks Go to ASUS website and download the latest version of BIOS, and update your 1215N accordingly. Make sure you run 64-bit version of Win 7.
