(Chesnutt) Ghetto Bells Music Inc. (BMI)/Bug Music Inc Produced: Vic Chesnutt & Kurt Wagner (P) 1998 Pinnacle Label Records. Taken from THE SALESMAN AND BERNADETTE, released September 1998. This is a 2005 performance by Orlando Bellydance. The girls were dancing to some other song, but I think it synchs nicely with Chesnutt's great song. I first heard UNTIL THE LED on a CD compilation from British music magazine UNCUT: Sounds of the New West. Reminds me of Cash's RING OF FIRE with those great horns. Thanks for watching.

  • Other artists on that UNCUT magazine Sounds of the New West compilation: Hazeldine, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Josh Rouse, Emmylou Harris, The Pernice Brothers, Neal Casal, Kate Campbell, Willard Grant Conspiracy, Wagon, Freakwater, Calexico, The Handsome Family, Lambchop, Silver Jews, Will Oldham, Sixteen Horsepower, The Walkabouts and Nadine.

  • Does anybody know what Chesnutt means by "until the lead started hittin' me" ??? I read that the song was about a divorce, but I feel ignorant for not being able to make a connection. Sorry.

  • @Kolbgil1 Yeah, sounds like some kind of relationship destruction. "Lead" would mean bullets, metaphorical in this case i'm sure. Salesman and Bernadette is a concept album, with plot and characters, so we shouldn't assume any f this applies to Vic or anyone he knew. His best album, imo. Thanks for the post and the clever video pairing.

  • I'll have to get the album now. Thank you, jajjguy for the insight.

  • Great song. What is the video?
