In this video photography expert Gavin Hoey http://www.gavtrain.com demonstrates a simple but effective set up using off camera flash (strobist technique).

  • Three other tips:

    1. Turn off your smoke detector before the photo session.

    2. Turn your smoke detector on again after the photo session

    3. If you don't have a smoke detector, you should leave your computer immediately and go buy a smoke detector.

  • Excellent video Gavin, will definitely give this a try.

  • @liarXliar1 if you dont have it then the alternative would be a lamp like the one in the video, but the lamp may have a impact on the colour of the smoke, but the flashgun is ideal
