Steve died at 48 with a remote in his hand. He loved Norwegian death metal music and was loved by many. In his memory, his closest friends burned a Viking style funeral effigy on a pontoon boat they made from Lake Erie driftwood. At dusk, two pseudo-warriors moved the large sea worthy vessel out into the deep water. Then, two beautiful pseudo-virgins with flowers in their hair lit the boat's funeral pyre on fire. As the first flame appeared, storms from Lake Erie blew in and strong winds lifted the boat that carried Steve's spirit on to Valhalla. The virgins were pseudo-sacrificed as lightning and wind blew them away with the effigy. The crowd sang, "Steve has gone to be with his father in the fields and homeland of Norway. The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!"
