I was power lvling and had summagic 30% with quiza somthing and shiva... I tried to kill it in my 2nd encounter but failed to do so but when I ran I ot 50 ap. rinse and repeat I guess to bad there is a time limit... did not get any items untill I killed it all the way.

When I tried to kill X I would take off the 5000 or so hp but it woulsdn't die but it did give me 50 AP like 5 times.... I killed it after the brdge.

To my knowledge, it has in the area of 5000-6000 HP, but after it repairs itself, it recovers all its HP and anything you do to it while it's repairing itself is useless.

Also, it repairs itself 4-6 times (chosen randomly?). You can only kill it after it stops repairing itself. It will decide to repair itself after you deal maybe 1000 damage (i think). So you just have to keep fighting until it decides to stop repairing itself.
