Kanye West obviously did not freestyle. That being said, he is a brilliant producer and not a bad hip hop artist. Obviously the only people who can run with Mos are people like Talib Kweli, Nas, Common, and KRS-One, but other than that those 5 guys are in a lyrical league of their own. Kanye has contributed an immense amount to hip hop and any person who denies that must not love hip hop. He isn't as lyrically talented but that's not to say he's not as talented

@rodzinska contributed to hiphop with College Dropout , everything else I would most likely categorize as pop.

I'll give you 808s and maybe Graduation, but I have to say that things like Gone, Drive Slow, My Way Home, and others from Late Registration contributed. Graduation was still really brilliantly produced though
