Michael Reyes and Michael Lujan Bevacqua filming scenes for the upcoming documentary "Tano' Y Chamorro" or "Land of the Chamorros." The location we are filming at is a rundown pre-war home in the village of Inarajan. As the film is about the Japanese occupation of Guam during World War II, we shot several scenes in the house which are meant to simulate someone being beaten or tortured by Japanese troops. These shots will be used to convey the torture of Pale' Jesus Baza Duenas, the second Chamorro priest. During World War II, he heroically fought to protect the spiritual and physical lives of Chamorros, and in return was beaten, tortured and eventually executed by the Japanese, just weeks before the American re-occupation.
why cant there be a docu about true chamoru culture without the refernce to ww2
