DTES Vancouver Cracktown Edit

This is a clip I edited to show what life in DTES Vancouver looks like. Just so you people understand my motivations, well I lived at the Regent Hotel on Main and Hastings for two months while working on a construction site nearby, and I was fascinated by the neighborhood because it was like waking up in a zombie movie each and every day. My main objective when I moved there was to shoot a documentary on poverty and drugs in DTES with some historic facts and all, but since I worked full time and did not have much time, I ended up filming less than I expected so I decided to edit a short but shocking clip so people can realize in what kind of world they are living in.

Of course, my intention was to show the shady side of DTES, but I wanna point out that there is a lot of support for homeless people and drug addicts, a lot of good people trying to help, social workers, street nurses, volunteers, and not only drug addicts and prostitutes...

thanks a lot!! by the way I apply for a funding to shoot an documentary on the dtes and I received 8000$ so I'll be flying back in vancouver in april to do it... Untill then I need to get more documentation and get a better understanding of the political issues that are taking place in BC right now, but it is still the perfect opportunity for me to go there and expose the sad truth... If you have any interesting ideas on what I could include in the film just let me know I would trully appreciate

I had the unfortunate run in with the dtes when i was 15 on holiday from the U.K

I Went to go buy a gift for my Girlfriend at the time and wandered into this ''Other World'' I started getting confronted by Drug addicts and Dealers, When a Preacher working in the area walked me back to my hotel, I honestly thought i was going to die, i am really impressed with how Well this video captures how weird it is walking into dtes. 5 stars ;)

the Regent hotel top floor , then the Balmoral hotel , 100 block east hastings street . LightingArts is correct it's a creation maintained and controlled (Black solar cult of Akanaton is my guess it makes other dark cults look silly and pathetic)
