Just as bad... have you heard of the 1938 Landover Baptist Sin Posse? These GODLY MEN decided it their right to form a gang (sanctioned by the church) to put an end to the wrong doings of the sinners... now, to them, sinners were near on everyone - ranging from smokers and gamblers right thru to MEN OWNERS OF FLOWER SHOPS. They would club sinners over the head until they heard either a confession of Christ or a promise to attend church. Firearms were used in some cases.
