2008 Basic Dual Mens 800 Meter

This is the 800 meter at the first home meet of 2008 at Basic High School. There are about 20 competetors from Boulder City, Chaparral, Basic, and Coronado. Mark Bunkley, Brian Murillo, Shawn Reese, Daryl Griffin, and Justin Burdno represent Basic in this race.

ok just an update. thanks for the comment. about 2 weeks ago I ran a 2:23. Hooray!!! and today i dominated in my 5k race with a 17:58!!!!!! bye

Dang! 17:58 isn't bad at all...some people are just better at longer distances. You can't expect to be extremely good at the 800 and the 5k...those are 2 seperate types of running ya know??? 5k training takes lots of distance running, while 800 meter training is more speed training mixed in with some 5 mile runs here and there. You said you are a freshman??? Damn!!! 17:58 makes you a freshman phenom kid! Keep up the work, and don't get lazy in the off-season. Best of luck... -Bunkley

hey. im in 8th grade turning freshman in september. and i can run a 2:42 800 meters. and i still have to grow. my doc said so. but tell me is you think thats good

Yeah thats pretty good for a starting freshman. My first 800 as a freshman was 2:40, but now I run a 2:03. Just run A LOT and you could do it in a couple of years.

I am a sophomore at Beverly Hills High School and I live in California.

I do track as well!(Distance:1600)

This is my first year in Track and my PR is a 5:48

However, last year when I was a Freshman when I just had regular P.E, my PR was a 7:09

So I think that's a really big improvement. haha

I never ran the 800 before as a race, but once I ran it by myself and I got a 2:28 i think.

I don't know about your school, but at our school today, I just turned a JUNIOR!

One more thing, there was someone at our school who ran a 1:52 800. Sounds crazy but he's going to UCLA and his name is Johnathon Simmons
