Decca 5731 [1939] one of the earliest songs to use Rock n Roll in both the title and the lyrics. The melody itself is based on the old blues/Western Swing standard "Deep Elem Blues". Jones had previously recorded this as 'Small Town Mama"

  • @elhayense Not rock & roll but a precursor - ya gotta like the structure and guitar and piano breaks.

  • KEEP ON ROCKIN' !!!!!

  • @cletozub It's ok, don't worry, I appologize if it sounded rude towards you. The only part meant to be rude was the "stop using SPs as shooting targets, and that part wasn't even towards you. XD

  • @JeffHendrie easy Jeff, I was just refering the record as an LP, english is not my native languaje, thanks for the information about LP and SP :)

  • @cletozub And*

  • @cletozub Actually, the LP came out in the 1950s, the 45 came out in 1945/46, (how ironic), and anything before that was an SP. Easiest way to tell if it's an LP or not, is if it's after 1959, and has a small hole. By then, the SP was phased out almost allt he way. Any to anyone who buys the SP records for shooting at, STOP IT, You're destroying history you could sell for big bucks. Geeze.

  • I wouldn 't call this rock & roll; the fact that I can use the word "cow" won't say I'm a cattlefarmer

  • Not to mention Robert Johnson's recordings in the 1930s "Steady Rollin Man," "Sweet Home Chicago," etc.

  • @archy2frank2 Good call.
