A Tribute to Don S. Davis (1942-2008)

Don S. Davis died on the 29th of June 2008 at the age of 65 after suffering a massive Heart Attack. Don co-starred on Stargate SG-1 for the show's first seven years, helping to launch the enduring science fiction franchise. Davis played Major General George Hammond, base commander and a father figure to many of the show's characters.

All our thoughts and Prayers go out to the Davis family during this sad time.

both dude he dead of a heart attack in real life and the writters wrote Hammond of with a heart attack in the season 5 finale of Stargate Atlantis and renamed the Phoenix the USS General Hammond

I balled my eyes out when my bro told me that he died. :( loved his work, when I was little I always thought of him as a father. Mind you I didn't know him, but he was always special to my heart, and always will be. RIP General.

Probably took a while for a comment...2 years to be exact..but I think this video feels like its a great tribute to one of the best science fiction characters I've ever seen. Davis himself was this awesome guy, I have a friend who had the luck to meet him on the set within the 3rd year he played General Hammond. Davis IS one of the best.

I just found out he died 2 years ago. I remember watching the begining of Stargate SG-1, and the way he portrayed his character in circumstances that were new to the base before there were procedures was amazing. He managed to show that his character didn't know what to do, but at the same time, his character was giving the situation everything he had, now that is acting. My condolences to his family. Don S. Davis... you are truely, deeply missed. Rest In Peace
