@lluvianihilista It's from 2004 but it looks older because it's low budget Australian miniseries, and because it's set in the early 80s.

@CyeOutsider Thanks for that, I knew that was sort of the same issue with Britain's courts, but I wasn't sure if it was the same thing with Australia's.

@DiabolicallyFreaky - they're not powered wigs; they's just wigs. And yes, barristers in Australia still wear the wigs, out of tradition. There are always debates about whether this old English style of dress should be abandoned, but it never happens. I think the pull of tradition, plus how distinctive the wig and gown are, are what keeps it going.
