@ClownPoet Chrissie Shrimpton not Jean. "She's the sickest thing in the world". Probably not the greatest love song ever written. No wonder she hates the twat!.

this was reputed to have been written about Jeanie Shrimpton, but it definitely IS a song written about one particular person (maybe even an imagined one) who happens to be female. Its not talking about all women. Some (stupid?) people will always experience things in a half-assed way and misunderstand them. No amount of PC legislation will change that. And anyway, the song's just cheeky because no one was more preening and vain than the young Rolling Stones - not even Jean Shrimpton!

I love this song even if it is considered politiclly inncorect, insensetive, and abusive of women. they'll just have to get over it. I like under my thumb too.

@dontmesswithbill23 fuck yeah J. Geils band!
-
It was written about his girlfriend back in 66 chrissie shrimpton. I know this cause she's my mates mum! And as to was under my thumb and 19th nervous breakdown

The Stones will always be the greatest rock n' roll band of the sixties. The Beatles were great, but were more "alternative" than rock n' roll. Had the pleasure of attending the fantastic show at L.A. Coliseum 1981 - the Tattoo You tour. They knocked me out!
BTW - the Stones "opening acts" were Lonesome George Thorogood & the Delaware Destroyers, then Peter Wolff and The J Geils Band. Took me days to recover...

This and 'Under My Thumb' got young teenaged boys really wound up back then.

@MrRonnieG I was born in '48.I attended the Stones great show at the Cow Palace
in San Francisco on 7/27/66,my 18th birthday. This show was phenomenal!!! It's in my
TOP-5 SHOWS OF ALL TIME!! This tour was in support of their great "Aftermath"
album. The late, great Brian Jones was onstage wearing a pin-striped gangster suit.

Ah, the Aftermath Album. In 1966 I had a 4 track player installed in my '57 Chevy (I was born in '47) and my 1st tape (they were the size of a sheet cake!) was the Stones' Aftermath. Man, the memories of times ~ now gone ~ but never ever ever forgotten. So many great songs of that era; Stupid Girl, It's Not Easy, High & Dry, Paint It Black, Under My Thumb......................
