Sion Simon, the MP for Birmingham Erdington and Minister for Creative Industries, answers questions posed by the public through the Yoosk website, which you can find at www.yoosk.com.

The questions were put to him during Labours annual conference in Brighton by Jonathan Walker, political editor of The Birmingham Mail and Birmingham Post.

This question: "How do you plan to get older MPs and power-brokers, who clearly have no interest in digital, interested in your strategy?"

  • They obviously don't get IT. A 2 meg USC is pathetic when korea is going for a gig. Also very dangerous is the proposed BET scheme by BT, using government funding to run new copper to rural areas. Totally disgraceful if the government fall for this scam. If they are gonna remove DACS to bond copper pairs they should run fibre instead and do the job right. Break the copper cabal - deliver true digitalbritain next gen access not more obsolete copper.
