Nice, but I think it would be even better if you could introduce some variability into the direction of the robot's serves. But by then, it probably wouldn't still be a poor man's robot.

verry cool. the only problem is that balls are going to land everywhere, and the ball capacity didn't look like much.

I had a whale of a time when I spend one night in my garage building this "robot".
Actually, the balls had a very consistent drop position. After all, they had all been "propelled" by a very consistent force: Good ol' gravity.
But, yes, the ball capacity was very limited.
Moreover, at that time I only had 14 balls available.
That's why I way hurrying so much, in order not to waste any of them... ;-)
