It so blows away the US version, these cutscenes, the animation in the stages. I don't know if I'll ever go back to playing the US version ever again...

@OldSkoolgamerz that's true....to me it's amazing that this guy to your right looks more like stallone than the character, Rambo in the self-titled video game made by acclaim for the NES. don't you think so?

man the japanese are so damn lucky having some sort of directers cut version of the game while the usa and eroupe get a butcherd version of contra damn you nintendo of america and eroupe
Its like the directors cut for my childhood memories.

@wingnut4427 Because Nintendo of America thought that using the Konami VRC4 memory mapper chip (used in the JP version of Contra) would be too expensive in the US, so they had to use the less capable (but cheaper!) Nintendo MMC3 mapper chip for the US/Euro versions.
