  • nice but you didn't talk about modern dance like you said you would

  • Beautiful!

  • whats the song !!!!!!!

  • Looks like how I dance when I'm improvising while lisening to my fav songs, but in a pro way! Niiiiice! thanks ;)

  • does anyone know what song this is?

  • Thanks. I think I understand now. :)

  • Really the best way to know the difference is to watch examples and to try it yourself.

Try watching some Nacho Duato for more contemporary styles and watch The Green Table to see a wonderful example of how modern dance is typically structured

Sorry if that was confusing at all, let me know if there is still confusion or if you have any questions about what I just said.

  • When it comes to choreography, there are some major differences. Modern dance uses very obvious structure... basing a piece off of phrases with variations and lots of repetition. And then there is contemporary, where movement does not have to be structured at all... it can be fluid and can take a person anywhere... almost like writing in stream of consciousness.

  • Post modern dance includes everything that is contemporary. And when it comes to contemporary dance, almost anything goes. It is based off of personal movement... you can literally move in any form and call it contemporary or post modern. It is this idea that all movement is dance... similar to the claim that John Cage made saying that all sound is music.
