The Real Open Tray Fix (not a bang on it fix)

This is a fix my friend and I came up with for the "Open Tray" problem. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH EVERYONES XBOX, ALWAYS USE A DIGITAL MULTIMETER, and be careful turning the pot. I am not responsible for any damages to your Xbox. Just follow the steps and it might work. This is not a guaranteed fix, but it is better than beating your Xbox every time you wanna change disc. I would recommend only doing this if your warranty is outta date and there is no way to fix it without paying. Thank You and please subscribe......if this does not work you can always buy a new eye off Ebay or another cd drive just like yours and trade the motherboards in them.

if you buy another drive thats the same model how do you swap it so the xbox thinks it is the same as the old one ???

@adstalynx use a soldering iron and then replace the new mother with your old one, then it should work with the same xbox.

0.7 to 0.9 ohms will fry your laser. Your current voltage will be anywhere from 4.2 - 6.4. Try reducing it to 3.6 ohms - 3.9.

Thank you very much. Been having this issue for over a year, finally decided to tear into the box again to fix it. Quick, easy, and painless. Had no idea that it was that simple of a fix. I had always been told the error was a dirty or broken laser, and since it worked part of the time, I'd always just cleaned it and left the rest alone. Now it works like new.
