If anyone has time to put into their community whether it be from joining the Specials or coaching a local youth football team, i imagine its more then any of the negative people have put into anything to develop the community or to actually help someone other than themselves. Dont sit in front of a PC saying XYZ, get off your ass and do something - like every Special does.

The Special Constabulary is not a money saving exercise at all. It actually predates the regular police service and can trace its roots back to 1831.
I have the utmost respect for all specials, many of whom juggle family life and work with their policing activities.
