Most robots are classified as toys like the Robosapien, or industrial equipment like welding and painting robots in a car factory. In contrast, the Whitegoat robot, developed by Takashi Saito, Associate Professor at the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research- Osaka University, has very practical application for numerous uses outside the factory. The video shows the Whitegoat design being used to clear snow. On a global basis, every year hundreds of people suffer major injuries, sometimes fatal, when they attempt to clear the snow off their roofs. Whitegoat's mobility and unique design demonstrates that it is possible to provide a robotic solution to that problem. There are numerous similar applications that require a robot like Whitegoat. reminds me of one of those robots from the 1980's movie: Runaway
with Tom Sellic and Gene Simmons "from Kiss"
Gene was the villian of the film...he would program little robots to kill..
injecting their victim with acid...he also had a gun that could shoot a homming bullet.A movie that was way ahead of it's time.
