Bah! After cyclone Larry a few years ago, and being out of power for 2 days, i went and bought a generator! It's not worth the bore having no power.

Yup, you got that correct 47. Only new problem is that if the cable goes out, no TV, Internet of landline so what in the hell do you do with the power? Usually cable never goes out though.

We don't have cable in our region: most broadband is ADSL and ADSL+2. So if the phone lines go out, there goes the internet. Same with the 3G mobile network for iPhone browsing. Hopefully one or the other will come back quick enough next time.

the storm was raging when I took this so rather than turning it on, I sat by the candles. The cable was also out so I didn't need juice.

Never made it. I called it Lights Out instead. After the water went down there wasn't much to see other than a bunch of leaves and branches

It was a lollapalooza, boy! Weds eve & Thurs eve, between 6-8pm-- both were hell on wheels! They said it was gusting to 75 at that time, but someone who wasn't here has to picture: this on TOP of the sustained winds (35-45) for the better part of 3 days. Those winds blew through like a train. During Isabel (2003), never was I so concerned as during those 6p-8p spans on Weds & Thurs.
We lost our beloved "mama" white pine, whose roots got upturned. Could've been much worse, I know.

my pines hung in okay but I lost a massive branch off of one of them. I would have to say the winds were stronger than during Isabelle. Water came up but none in.

nobody here has basements. I guess being near sea level would make it an indoor swimming pool. Ahhh computer issues, never enjoyable.
