Last Xtranormal, I promise!
I was never the kid on the right, I was always the kid that the girl on the left wanted to be. I took AP courses that only interested me, and stayed away from taking more than two at a time. I took interesting courses in high school and dgaf'd about how it affected my GPA, as long as my grades were good. A lot of people kill themselves over AP courses by taking too many and setting high college expectations, only to find out that they just "weren't good enough."
Too many people are burnt out by the whole system by the end of their high school career. It's not a nice system.

Lol I did the same and only took only 2 AP classes I was interested in also xD, I only took 2 and got int Stanford, go figure xDDDD

But yeah, a lot of people stress themselves out by taking APs they are barely interested in, thinking they'll get into an Ivy or so. Recipe for disaster.
