Let your mind and soul flow for a few moments, on the river Shannon, from the footbridge at Castleconnell, Limerick, Ireland. between 6am and 7.30am, in early summer when the dawn chorus was in full voice.

It is an 'electronic postcard'
FROM: ............ Castleconnell,
TO: ............ The World.

The Music: Ar Éirinn ní n-Eósfainn cé hí (For Ireland I'd not tell her name)
It's a very old Irish air, and tells the story of a love that, because of circumstances could never be. And, the gentleman involved, would never tell the ladies name, for reasons only known to himself.

It is one of the most beautiful of all Irish airs.

It's the only tune that I didn't have to learn. After hearing it just a few times, I played it note for note on the tinwhistle. The banjo backing was taught to me by the great Irish folk singer, Luke Kelly. It's called a roll.

I have been playing music since the age of six, when I got a two row Hohner button accordion, then three years later I was taught to play the tin-whistle by local musician Paddy Quinn. For the past thirty eight years I have been playing the five-string banjo. [I was very, very young when I started :)].
I had the pleasure of been on the Gerry Ryan radio show for about twenty minuets in April 2008.

For almost twenty years I have been teaching people to play the banjo.
And, ,... it's never too late to learn.
